Join the Board of Cork Business Association:

Cork Business Association (CBA) is currently inviting expressions of interest for a voluntary Board Director position that will soon become available.

 

In the past year, the organisation has restructured and developed a new strategy, and we are actively seeking new voices and perspectives from business leaders across the city to ensure that our Board reflects the evolving and diverse business community of Cork.

 

The CBA Board is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the Association and supporting the Executive, working groups and office team to deliver on our mission of making Cork City the best place to do business, visit, work, and live.  The CBA is a very active organisation in the city and we are seeking candidates who have time to really get involved.

 

Key details:

  • The position is voluntary.
  • The commitment involves attending approximately 6 board meetings per year, along with preparation time, and CBA Events or invited events throughout the year.
  • Estimated time commitment: 50 hours annually.
  • The term of appointment is 5 years.

 

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are senior leaders within their business or organisation.
  • Are based in Cork city.
  • Have a strong interest in community engagement and contributing to the ongoing improvement of Cork City.
  • Will bring strategic insight and strong governance awareness.
  • Board experience is welcome but not essential — this role could serve as a valuable stepping stone for future board opportunities.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, sustainability and the values of Cork Business Association.
  • Experience in driving revenue, growing organisations would be advantageous, but not essential.

Join the Executive Team – Cork Business Association

As we continue to evolve the organisation, Cork Business Association (CBA) is seeking expressions of interest from enthusiastic and committed individuals in our business community to join our Executive Team.  A limited number of positions are open for the right candidates.

The Executive is the engine of Cork Business Association — working closely with the CBA office and committees to implement projects, shape campaigns, and bring fresh ideas to life. This is a voluntary role suited to individuals who want to play an active role in driving progress across Cork City’s business community.

 

Role details:

  • Attend 6 Executive meetings annually and attend/ support CBA Events.
  • Attendance at sub-committee meetings and stakeholder meetings/events relevant to your area of expertise.
  • CBA Executive are expected to be actively involved in leading out / participating in CBA activities, including events, campaigns, press and media relations. You would also be the CBA representative in your own business sector
  • Play an active role in a committee relevant to your skills and expertise – e.g. Safe & Clean, Cork City 2030, Retail, Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Infrastructure, Sustainability, Diversity etc.
  • Time commitment can be circa 4-5 hours per week.
  • Term of appointment: 5 years.

 

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are a manager/owner/ senior person in their business or organisation.
  • Are based in Cork city.
  • Have a strong interest in community engagement and contributing to the ongoing improvement of Cork City.
  • Have skills and industry knowledge that will benefit Cork City.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, sustainability and the values of Cork Business Association.
