Cork Business Association launch Better Building Awards 2024

Cork Business Association launch Better Building Awards 2024

Nominations are now open for Cork Better Buildings Awards 2024.   The awards, organised by Cork Business Association with the support of Cork City Council, recognise the efforts of developers, landlords and tenants to present properties throughout the city to their absolute best.

Last year’s winners came from a variety of sectors and each entry was judged by a panel of experts in heritage, planning and placemaking.  As well as large scale projects, the judging panel will focus on maintenance and good housekeeping, such as cleaning, painting and planting.  The Awards are open to all city businesses from Ballincollig to Blarney, Glanmire to Douglas as well as the city centre.

Speaking at the launch at The Kingsley Hotel, Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Dan Boyle said,

“Form and function in design is what makes Cork City stand out from other cities nationally and internationally.  These awards are an important acknowledgement of what has been done well in the city.  We are currently undergoing huge transformation and investment in areas such as Grand Parade Quarter and Morrison’s Island will deliver a new landscape for the city.  That building owners and businesses are also investing in Cork speaks to the ambitions of the city and the bright prospects ahead.”

The award ceremony will be hosted at The Kingsley Hotel on November 15th.  There is no entry fee and nominations can be made by companies, organisations and notably by individuals, who believe a building reflects well on the city scape.

Aaron Mansworth, President of Cork Business Association said,

“These awards are going from strength to strength and the evidence is there to show the positive impact well maintained properties have on the experience of people living, working or visiting the city centre. We can be quick to criticise what is wrong but it is equally, if not more, important to recognise and celebrate what is right.”

There are nine categories in which to nominate a building and as appropriate, buildings can be nominated in more than one category.  As well as businesses putting themselves forward for an award, members of the public are encouraged to nominate buildings too.
