An Garda Síochána is pleased to announce that the Cork City Centre Policing Unit, in collaboration with Community Policing, will increase the presence of uniformed Gardaí on the city streets during daytime hours this summer. Up to six additional Gardaí will be deployed to enhance public safety and support the bustling summer trading period.
Safety in Cork City has been a primary concern for residents and businesses alike. The Cork Business Association (CBA) has been particularly committed to addressing these concerns on behalf of its members. CBA President Aaron Mansworth welcomed the initiative, stating, “Cork Business Association has worked closely with An Garda Siochana and lobbied for additional resources. The summer trading period is crucial for our members, and it is imperative that we drive results. Equally important is that the people of Cork feel secure and are encouraged to spend time in the city. We are a city known for its warm welcomes, and our significant tourism trade depends on maintaining this reputation. We welcome the additional resources and look forward to continue working in collaboration with an Garda Siochana on further initiatives to strengthen their presence in our city.”
The increased Garda presence aims to foster a safer environment, ensuring that Cork City remains a vibrant and inviting destination for both locals and tourists. This initiative underscores the ongoing commitment of An Garda Síochána to Cork City and its dedication to enhancing public safety and confidence.
