‘Open Road’ on Oliver Plunkett Street will be a new public artwork created by artist Fatti Burke in collaboration with young people and The Glucksman in June 2021. As the first ever ‘asphalt artwork’ in Cork City, it is anticipated to draw considerable interest and will feature prominently in both the Cork City Cruinniú na nÓg Programme and Cork Midsummer Festival for 2021. It is to be located on the road surface outside Barborossa and will be in place for 12 months.
Cork City Council is happy to facilitate this project which will complement the re-opening and animation of Cork City. The installation works are scheduled to be undertaken sometime during the period of the 10th June to 20th June, between the hours of 11am and 4pm daily and pedestrian flow will be maintained on the footpath. No machinery is being used that would cause noise.
